Christmas Trees in Your Bathroom

Should you put a Christmas Tree in your bathroom?

I’m not sure you should but my wife did. I have struggled with it being there because I have always been freaked out by people who keep decorated Christmas trees up in their house all year. I have visited a few homes of these fanatics over the years and have always been amazed at the nutcrackers that stay up all over the house and the trees that are the regular decor in certain rooms. I was especially traumatized by the couple I visited with the two life sized nutcrackers posted on beside the front doors as if they were guarding the house from potential nuts! They are there all year as permanent fixtures in the house.

Whatever the case, it’s about an affinity people have for this. Most of us do have an affinity for something even one perhaps that others deem odd. Just like the guy that has set up an old train set in his garage, or the lady that collects porcelain trinkets, or the stamp collector, or guy with all the antique smoking pipes. It’s about an affinity that is in you. Something in you says, “I like that”. Why you like it may not even be explainable but you just do.

Christ may not call you to put Christmas trees in your bathroom or collect pipes. But HE did put in you and unexplainable, permanent, and deeply embedded affinity for the things of God. He put in you a passion to love HIS tree each and every day of your life. He put a call on your life to pick it up and carry it with you everywhere you go. Not out of duty but out of affinity. Not because you have to because you just like it. You want to. Because you “sense” you need to walk in joy. Because it is the reason you exist. To take his tree with you for HIS glory in all you do!. Question yourself about your affinities today. What are you longing for. What is your internal “wanter” wanting?

So, I guess you should say “yes”, I should put a Christmas tree up in my bathroom!

Luke 9:23-Jesus said: “If anyone wants to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow ME.”
