I was on my way to work and was thinking about the days when I was a child. While driving there was a flash back to when I was snorkeling in a large pool and the great memories of diving deep to see the entire pool. The ability to stay under water to see the great depth of the pool was a thrill and I thought nothing could be better. This idea was destroyed after going snorkeling in the ocean.
In my early twenties I had an opportunity to go snorkeling in a beautiful beach area where I was completely blown away by God’s creation under the water. I started my snorkeling journey early in the morning and I am not sure if I ever came out of the water because I was enjoying the depth of colors in the yellow fish, the blueness of the ocean, just all the majesty of the ocean. All of it makes me realize that the pool was nothing verses the greatness of the ocean.
The funny thing is that is how we operate sometimes in our spiritual walk. We get accustom to the big pool, we enjoy getting the diving rings at the bottom of the pool and we make a game out of that to keep our interest. The reality is some of us are board with our experience in the pool and desire more but we tend to be scared to go into the ocean. The challenge is this, trusting God to take you out to the depths of His glory because once you do, the pool will not satisfy you.
Where are you swimming today? I think some people are enjoying the Lazy River instead enjoying the greatness of God. Today, take the first step in experiencing the depths of God, do more than read scripture but demonstrate it to somebody you do not know. Trust God to give you the breath of life you need to go swimming in the vast Ocean that is God.
I look forward to seeing the comments on here of people who are allowing God to show them the greatness of His glory.
