In Continued

First let me share that for those of you on this study with us you might want to read some of these books. Chosen By God, by Dr. R.C. Sproul; Doctrine of Human Depravity, by A.W. Pink; Divine Foreknowledge: Four Views by Beilby & Eddy; Bondage of the Will and Freedom of the Will by Martin Luther; How Much Does God Foreknow by Dr. Steven C. Roy. These books are a bit on the heavy side with their academic nature but I must recommend them because of the comprehensive nature of them. I have them in my library and have been used in a great way by God in my theological pilgrimage.

We are discussing Ephesians 1:4-6 that says:

    One thought/question that I have always asked in my effort to understand the election of God deals in this area you are discussing right now. I do believe that based upon the Scripture you have cited that there is nothing within man that seeks after God on his own. Yet, I also wonder where our imago dei fits into this. If we are created in the image of God, then at least God’s image is in us and therefore there is the propensity for good. I tend to believe that it is this image within us that allows us to somehow seek after Him even when our own desires do otherwise. I may be way off base with this, just wanted to see what you thought.

The answer lies in many areas of thought in this but I think it is best revealed through understanding of Original Sin and what exactly happed to the image of God in us as a result of the first sin of mankind.
