The Worst Things Work For Good to the Godly pt. 4

Now we are to the third of the four evils Watson discusses that God uses for our good in this teaching from Romans 8:28. I must confess you are not going to like this one at all. It’s desertion. The picture that is painted in my mind regarding this blog is that of a person walking through a dry dessert or dark valley. I think that it is difficult for someone to truly capture what it means to endure such a dark valley, where God’s presence literally feels absent, unless they have experienced it. Such a valley is one where you are deeply, deeply humbled by God’s grace. Confusion and hopelessness accompany a dark valley, but it is in our confusion and in our lack of hope/faith that God’s love reaches us, capturing our emotions, brokenness, actions, thoughts, motives….our entire life, and we come to know God. I praise God for Him sustaining me, for convincing me of his love, faithfulness, and for giving me a new outlook through humbling me. The withdraw of God was experienced by Joseph when he was thrown to a pit and sold into slavery, it was experienced by Job when he lost everything, and it was experienced by Moses who was ultimately so intimately drawn by God to do His will. Besides the many things that we learn in the valley, which are important, we ultimately discover God
