The Worst Things Work for the Good To the Godly pt. 3

I want to add some to my previous (pt. 2) entry on temptation. Listen to this and ponder the implications: “Temptation is a trial of our sincerity. It argues that our heart is chaste and loyal to Christ, when we can look temptation in the face, and turn our back upon it” (Watson, pg. 35). Could we say that we cannot become as deeply loyal as we could be without temptation? If the answer is yes, then, are we to welcome temptation? I would say no, don’t welcome it because it will come soon enough. Just make sure it purges you so you can stand loyal to the one who empowers you to pass the test of the temptation. Also, remember that when you are tempted and stand strong, you are able to help all the rest of us! You can speak to people from experience and provide a deep level of encouragement. Finally, temptation will stir you to have compassion for others when they are tempted. You are able to empathize and say, “I get it” to them and love them through it.

So, take temptation as a way of God making His good manifest in our lives. More tomorrow…
