On January 4, 2010, Fox news analyst Brit Hume suggested that Tiger Woods shoudl trade his Buddhist faith for Christianity. On Fox News Sunday, Hume said that Woods would probably recover as a golfer, but that “The extent to which he can recover [personally] seems to me depends on his faith. He is said to be a Buddhist. I don’t think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith. My message to Tiger would be, ‘Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world.”
Needless to say, when I ran across this I was more than shocked. A national news anchor on a nationally televised program answers a sports question with a decidedly public opinion that includes open proselytization of Tiger Woods!!
I wonder if Tiger heard this or if he has read it on-line since then? I wonder what Tiger would do with this advice?
Yesterday, I read in Matthew 20: “Whoever wants to be great must become a servant. Whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave. That is what the Son of Man has done: He came to serve, not be served
While reading your post, I was taken back into Ecclesiastes where it is written about the futility of secular accomplishment:
“I, the Teacher, have been king over Israel in Jerusalem. I decided to carefully and thoroughly examine all that has been accomplished on earth. I concluded: God has given people a burdensome task that keeps them occupied. I reflected on everything that is accomplished by man on earth, and I concluded: Everything he has accomplished is futile
sorry I kinda rambled there
