This morning I woke up, had some instant oatmeal and drank my morning cup of coffee. My little girl was walking through the house with her tooth brush in her mouth trying to ask Lizzy for a cookie! Talk about defeating the purpose. The last chapter of the Tozer book we’ve been reading is entitled “If you worship on Sunday, what happens on Monday?”. Much like my daughter wanting to have a sugary cookie right after she brushes her teeth is what many proclaimed Christians do through out the week in regards to their relationship with the Lord. They attend church because it is the right thing to do but don’t do anything through out the week to grow their inner man. Tozer said, “Why should we delude ourselves about pleasing God in worship? If I live like a worldly and carnal tramp all day and then find myself in a time of crisis at midnight, how do I pray to a God who is holy? How do I address the One who has asked me to worship Him in spirit and in truth?” I know these are strong words but what he is saying is very true!
My prayer is that the corporate worship we experience on Sunday mornings be out of the overflow of what happens in our lives through out the week. That it would feel natural because it has been taking place all week long! I’m excited about the spiritual growth we have been seeing in our body of believers! My encouragement to you is to not stop. Keep pressing in, keep seeking God, and most importantly live a life worship!
