Lifesong!

Hey Church Family,
I hope you are having a great start to your week and are worshiping God with the way you are living your life!

In my quiet time God has been dealing with me about what worship is. I have known the following truth for years but it is really starting to take a hold of me. The truth I am referring to is that worship is much more than what happens on Sunday mornings- it is a lifestyle! A.W. Tozer said the following, “I believe a local church exists to do corporately what each Christian believer should be doing individually – and that is to worship God.” He goes on to say that we are saved to worship God! All that Christ did and continues to do for us leads to worship! (Romans 11:36)

So…
If we worship God by the way we live our life, we have to continually ask ourselves how are we doing? Are we looking like Christ more and more or have we been stuck for the past 4 years in the elementary things of Christianity? Are we abounding more and more in faith or are we remaining static? How genuine are our concerns for the lost, marginalized and oppressed? Do we care about the Church’s testimony to the world? Are we abounding in the fruits of the Spirit? Are we glorifying God with our actions and not just with our lips? What are we doing when no one is looking? Brothers and sisters in Christ, it is crucial that we are maturing in our relationship with the Lord. We will experience God’s manifest presence so much more corporately if we are worshiping Him privately!

With all that said I encourage you as your friend and worship pastor to:

- “Grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (Colossians 1:9-10; 2 Peter 3:18)

- Increase in your faith (Luke 17:5; 2 Thessalonians 1:3)

- Be filled with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope (Romans 15:13)

- Increase and abound in love (1 Thessalonians 3:12; 4:10; 2 Thessalonians 1:3; Phillipians 1:9)

- Reflect the Glory of God and become more and more like Jesus (2 Corinthians 2:13)

- Purify yourself out of a holy fear of the Lord (2 Corinthians 7:1)

- Win people to Jesus (Acts 6:7; 1 Corinthians 9:19; Acts 16:5)

- Build up the church (1 Corinthians 14:12)

- Give thanks (Colossians 2:6-7; Ephesians 5:20; 2 Corinthians 4:15)

- Be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18)

At the end of this year let us look back and see the growth that took place. May we look back and see genuine worship that is pleasing to our GREAT GOD!

Take some time to worship God privately with the following song:

I love you all!

Pastor Jimmy
